POLICE NAB DON PEDRO FOR A DWI!!!


Don Pedro, The Brownsville Herald's Mexican mascot, was nabbed by the authorities and charged with DWI. This is the transcript of the recording between the the dying daily's last true voice and Fred Kowalski, his attorney:

"Fred, Don Pedro."
"Something wrong? What time is it?"
"Two?"
"You need some money?"
"No. I'm in jail."
"For what?"
"I'm being charged with DWI."
"Where did this happen?"
"I was coming home from Cobbleheads along the frontage road. I was entering Denny's because I live in the hotel behind the restaurant when the police nabbed me."
"Were you driving someone's car?"
"No."
"Did you buy a car?"
"No."
"You are still living without a car?"
"Yes."
"Then how are you facing DWI charges?"
"I'm reading the report right now. DWI: Dude Walking Intoxicated."
"Stay tight. I'll come and spring you right now."
"I knew I could count on Fightin' Fred Kowalski!!!"
