HAPPY 2025!
As part of my civic duty, I will maintain both my blog--The McHale Report--and my Facebook page until Rump and Muskrat censor me.
They pay lip service to free speech, but they want Far-Right religious rhetoric to replace all other types of opining, particularly satire that exposes this pair of con artists for the ruthless dictators they are. They are evil men who will distract and divide the American people in order to enrich themselves at the expense of the taxpayers. And we have our local clowns turning government into a circus who need constant exposure. Beginning with Eddie "Panocha" TreviƱo and finishing with "Sucio" Eddie Lucio, we have Democrats and Republicans alike poking out our eyes as they line their pockets with our money.
But besides these endeavors, I have three significant projects that consume my time. The Melancholy Decadent is my most challenging undertaking. It is not a novel for the faint of heart. I'm taking no prisoners as I feature an anti-hero who is his own worst enemy. This is my longest book and I'm finishing my fourth edit. I estimate that I will need at least four more edits if I'm lucky.
My second book is entitled Santa Ain't Satan: Christmas Classics. This is a thin production combining stories and poems. I have most the material and I may publish it within the next few months. One might imagine the final product as Scrooge's thoughts before he was enlightened. I can't help it that I'm an iconoclast at heart.
The third venture is still in the deep recesses of my brain. It will be the epilogue to the Trials & Tribulations of Tommy Tamaulipas, the trilogy that is as controversial as Estanislao Contreras' Chicano Fuck Songs. This may qualify as a tome because I am categorizing it as my Swan Song. I can't imagine finishing it within two years.
As a result of my self-imposed burdens that keep my mind churning 24/7/365, which I hope will retard my eventual dementia, I have limited time. It is not uncommon for me to write eight hours a day. I'm spending much time indoors as I seek refuge from both the heat and the cold.
I literally have hundreds of prose and poem pieces in my archives. I also have the same quantity that have appeared on my blog and FB in the past. I have been blogging 25 years now and I have saved everything going back to the halcyon days in the late seventies when I was The Brownsville Herald's sports editor.
I will be posting the cream of the crop. Not everyone has read everything that I've penned and if I can entertain one new reader with my talents, I am more than satisfied. We don't tire of listening to classical and popular music over and over again, so why should a poem or a story be relegated to a sole appearance?
As I commence 2025, this is my situation. I will continue to surprise with original stuff as I just did with the St. Elon anecdote today, but I will have to draw on all my other resources to keep my small but appreciated audience amused as I push forward with The Melancholy Decadent. Santa Ain't Satan and the epilogue.
I am always grateful for the likes and views that I receive and I am both astonished and satisfied by the encouragement that I receive to compensate for the hurt feelings of my more sensitive detractors.
